My dear friend,
Would you please pass along some news to our Trinity 97 friends.
I don't have many email addresses. I have been placed on indefinite sick leave. I managed to keep working five and a half years after my diagnosis of PTSD, stemming from my days as an infantry soldier in Africa and as a chaplain in the Canadian Forces. But eventually it became too much. I have been taken out of my unit and will be posted to a special unit for the sick and the wounded. They will find me light work I can do at a reduced rate until a medical release towards the middle of 2013.
I will continue my therapy and hopefully start the new life in better shape. During this period my faith has changed a great deal but has not lessened in depth.
I would very much like for you to keep me in your prayers.
Wishing you many blessings,
Gary Botha

Advent (from the Latin word adventus meaning "coming") is a season observed in many Western Christian churches, a time of expectant waiting and preparation for the celebration of the Nativity of Jesus at Christmas. It is the beginning of the Western liturgical year and commences on Advent Sunday, called Levavi. The Eastern churches' equivalent of Advent is called the Nativity Fast, but it differs both in length and observances and does not begin the church year, which starts instead on September 1.
The progression of the season may be marked with an Advent calendar, a practice introduced by German Lutherans. At least in the Roman Catholic, Anglican, Lutheran and Methodist calendars, Advent starts on the fourth Sunday before December 25, the Sunday from November 27 to December 3 inclusive.
Latin adventus is the translation of the Greek word parousia, commonly used in reference to the Second Coming of Christ. For Christians, the season of Advent serves as a reminder both of the original waiting that was done by the Hebrews for the birth of their Messiah as well as the waiting of Christians for Christ's return.

ARCHBISHOP of CANTERBURY'S
MESSAGE TO THE PEOPLE
OF NORWAY
The Archbishop of Canterbury, Dr Rowan Williams, has sent his prayers and sympathy to the people of Norway following the tragic events in Oslo and Utøya last Friday.
His message is as follows:
"Along with all the faithful of the Church of England, I want to express my deepest sympathy with the people of Norway in the wake of the appalling events of recent days. Norway has played so great a part over many years in international reconciliation as well as developing its own distinctive national ethos of openness and fairness, and it is a special tragedy that it should suffer this outbreak of senseless carnage. Our prayers are with all those who died and all those who mourn them; and we are grateful for the many signs of strength and spiritual maturity that the Norwegian people have shown in their response to evil and destructiveness."
(The Church of England and the Church of Norway are in communion, as a result of the Porvoo Agreement.
